Another Small Project!!

It can't get any easier than this!!

I cut these hearts out of fleece with my

little die cutter and hand appliqued

them onto flannel.

Made this into a simple pillow with an

envelope opening in the back.

A small thing.

It is small but it still counts as a finished project.

I have had the quilt done for a couple of weeks

but just made the pillow last night.

Now it is ready for that special dolly of Isabelle's.

BEAR liked it!!!!!

English Paper Piecing

I recently joined a quilting group online.

It is so much fun and it is motivating me to finish this

project that I started last year.

I love English Paper Piecing and this is something

my granddaughter Sophie and I do together.

I made these flowers last year because I loved this fabric so much,
it is Bound to the Prairie by Moda fabrics and I only had a Charm Pack.
Now….what to do??
I am a little intimidated by all of the beautiful projects posted by the online group
but I am going to try and move forward.

I am thinking about doing something like this with my hexagons

although it is not the traditional thing to do.

Baby Doll Quilt Finished

The little doll quilt is done,

so now I only need to make the matching pillow.

Sunbonnet Sue lives in Mexico too!!

I love going to Mexico. I love the

beautiful bright colors and all the different ways

the people of Mexico use them.

So here is my version of Sunbonnet Sue.

Monday evening sewing.

On Monday evenings my friends come to my house

and we work on whatever we want and talk.

There is a lot of talk!!

This evening it was just Janet and myself.

Janet has been working on this beautiful quilt

and is almost done. She is a very

talented seamstress and she gets a lot more done than I do.

Tonight Janet brought cake, it was great.

Chocolate, yum!!!

One of the things I worked on was this pillow.

I finally finished it!!

It has been around for a while now, needing

beads put in the center of the flowers.

I had already finished a pink one a long time ago.

You know how I love pink!!

She can finally reach the peddle

Sophie is learning to fill bobbins on the old Singer 221.

She filled every empty one I had.

She will be seven years old pretty soon

and her foot can finally reach the peddle.

Being a grandma is the best!!

Book Bag

I always see beautiful home decorating fabrics

but don't know what to do with them since

I am not a home deco kind of girl.

I saw this fabric and had to have it, decided I

would make ... who knows what!!

I only purchased 1/2 yard just in case I never used it.

I made this book bag and I love it!!

I washed and dried it to make sure this fabric

is good for something like this and

it turned out great.

Tiler's quilt top.

I still need to sew these blocks together and make the

borders. I am going to paper piece his name

and year in the border. My goal is to have it finished

before he starts a new school year.

Wool Felted Flower

This was so much fun to make and so easy,
 looks great on my old gardening hat.

A boys quilt.

I want to make a quilt for Tiler, my grandson, but

I am so indecisive about quilts for teenage boys.

You know how I am into pinks and frills.

So I will try to do this.

Pictured, are the first four squares I finished today.

I purchased his school colors, blue and gold but

he recently changed schools and

his new colors are green and burgundy.

So I will make the back of the quilt the new colors.

He plays soccer, football and runs track so

I am going to try adding those themes along with

his name or maybe just some T blocks for Tiler.

We'll see what happens!!

Starting to quilt

Today I started the free motion quilting on this project. I will not get it done today

as I am going to the garden to work soon.

It is a beautiful day here in Arizona, going to be 82 F. It is hard to stay inside

on a day like this.

Time to finish something.

Tonight I decided I need to start completing some of the

projects I have started and believe me when I

say there are many.

I started this baby quilt about one year ago, it is the

quilt version of my rag flower pillow.

Raggedy flowers with a hand appliqued butterfly

on each one. I used scrapes to make this quilt

and I am running out of matching fabric for the back.

....so this is going to be the back.

The pink fabric is Tea Rose by Crab Apple Hill Studio.

It is so beautiful but I cannot find more, so I am using

white Kona cotton as a filler, the same as the background

squares on the front.

I only need to baste, quilt and bind

and I'm done.

Check with me in a few days to see if this becomes

a finished project.

Growing up!!

Not much going on this weekend, I am trying to clean up my
sewing room. It has become quit messy.

Also my granddaughter came
to spend the night. I just love it when she sleeps over.
We always have some little project we do. This time she
wanted me to help her with something.

She has these little plastic princes shoes, she has had

them for a long time. I remember when they where too big

for her and now they fit, but she said she is too

old for princes stuff (she will be 7 in April).

So she ask me if I could take off the bow and heart and make

them more grownup.

Out of all the pretty buttons I have, she decided
these black buttons would be the best.
This sewing project was not that easy because the top of the
shoe is made of thick rubbery plastic, but we got them done
and she was very happy.

She is growing up too fast!!
